How verification works

Identity check

A government-issued ID is checked for authenticity before a profile can be verified.

Liveness check

A real-time capture confirms a live person — not a photo of a photo or a reused image.

Signed-selfie check

The provider holds a one-time code we issue, tying the ID, the live person and the account together.

Reverse-image screening

Published photos are screened against known stolen-image sources to stop catfishing.

We never publish or sell identity documents. Verification evidence is minimised, kept separate from public media, and where possible retained by the verification provider rather than us. Read the full walkthrough in How verification works.

When something's wrong

Reporting categories we prioritise

Every profile and every message has a Report link. Reports are triaged by severity — illegal content jumps the queue and is escalated immediately.

Suspected minor / CSEAImmediate — preserved & escalated to the NCA

Trafficking or coercionImmediate — escalated to a trained single point of contact

If you think we got it wrong

If your content or account is actioned, we tell you what happened and why. You can appeal, and a different reviewer reconsiders the decision — they don't just rubber-stamp the first call. Providers can file an appeal from their dashboard; everyone can also raise data-protection concerns with the ICO. Appeals and their outcomes are logged.

How we escalate to the authorities

Child sexual exploitation and abuse, and trafficking, are escalated to a trained single point of contact. We preserve evidence and report to the relevant authorities as the law requires. We never re-publish or re-circulate illegal imagery.

NCA / CEOP

Child sexual exploitation & abuse and trafficking are reported to the National Crime Agency / CEOP.

IWF

Uploads are screened against known illegal-image hash lists; confirmed material is handled per IWF/industry process.

ICO

Data-protection matters can be raised with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

What a verified profile shows

Behind the age gate, every verified profile carries a structured trust passport — factual, source-backed cues, never a public star-rating box. Here's an annotated example of what you'll see.

No public star reviews. Vouches only come from people who actually enquired.
